Colleen “Coll” Cheney

1. Tell us a little about yourself?

I am a Hinghamite, with my sons 6th generation, Ryan 30 and Curtis 23.  They are my world, along with my new puppy Creid!

 2. Tell us your CrossFit story (where were you before RCFBC and where are you now?)

I was a smoker and started running after Curtis was born and I haven’t touched a cigarette since then.  I wanted to get better at running, so had my eldest son’s basketball coach work with me at Webb’s gym teaching me how to lift light weights and strengthen my core.  My friend Jon joined CrossFit Southie 2 years ago.  He became a different person, not just winning the Paleo Challenge and dropping 23 lbs CrossFit was what he spoke of when he woke and was the last thing at the end of each day.  He would do CrossFit track workouts with me so that we could stay connected.  I finally joined CrossFit Hingham and was so intimidated after my first day, I didn’t return.

 3. What does being part of RCFBC community mean to you?

When I saw the sign go up at Reebok CrossFit Bare Cove I couldn’t believe it – Yes, I am member #1!  Now I’m the one that wakes to CrossFit and lives by it!  My two sons now live by it too, Ryan at the North End Box and Curtis at the Nyack, NY box.  We love paleo (I LOVE to cook), we love how you can work with your body and watch it change ever so slightly overtime, we love to see what our bodies are capable of achieving.  Most important, the people that I have met at RCFBC  including the coaches, I consider an extension of my family.

4. What are your challenges and goals going forward?

I’m grateful every day that I go to CrossFit, it MAKES MY DAY!  I hope to eventually tackle toes-to-bar and pull-ups without a band, but if I don’t, I’m OK with that – you know, I’m not 29 anymore!

 5.  What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit?

I live 1 mile from the Box, 3 houses from the beach – so if anyone wants to fish, waterski, swim or paddle board, 20 Mann Street is equipped.

It’s always nice to walk into RCFBC and see Colleen’s smiling face and her cute different types of socks! 🙂  She is full of energy and brings something special to the box.  Not to mention she  just brought in the cutest puppy ever aka Creid!  Colleen loves to run so look for her in different racing events… She’ll be the one with vibrant colors, a big smile, and cute socks!
