1. Tell us a little about yourself?
HIIIIIII I’m ELLI, I am 15 years old, and currently attending Hingham High School as a freshman! Both of my parents go to CrossFit. I have a 17 year old sister named Abbi. I have lived in Hingham my entire life. I am really energetic most of the time and always happy to hang with friends and family! Nothing more to say really…
Before joining CrossFit I had tried a few other gyms but never really committed to them due to either laziness, the lack of friendliness from people I worked out with, or not being able to motivate myself to work out. I never went regularly to work out other than sports, but I really wanted to stay in shape. I decided to join RCFBC because my parents always talked about how much they loved it and I had a few family friends that did the teens class and thought it would be fun and worth a try! After coming to a week of classes I absolutely loved it! The people there were great! There was much positive spirit and encouraging people. It is so much fun to see my friends 3 days a week and get a great work out in as well. I rarely miss a class and look forward to it every week.
2. What does being part of RCFBC community (Teens class) mean to you?
Being part of the RCFBC community is something I am really proud of. I love walking into a gym where people say hello to you and you can have a great time. Everyone here is so supportive and friendly. I have never been to a gym like this before. Honestly, having a positive community is really what helps me succeed most in my workouts.
3. What accomplishments are you most proud of?
There isn’t anything that sticks out in my mind when I think of accomplishments here at RCFBC. It’s really everything that I’m proud of. Wether it’s finishing a wod, increasing weight as I get stronger, or learning new movements I’m proud of accomplishing all of those things.
4. What are your challenges and goals going forward?
One is being able to do a successful double under. Whenever I jump rope, my foot curves in and crosses over the other. This makes doing a double under or jump roping in general quite difficult. I honestly just look really awkward when I jump rope. For the future I hope to jump normally and do several double-unders in a row! In general I hope to improve my strength during the course of the year and learn new movements that will challenge me physically and mentally.
5. What’s your favorite CrossFit movement and why?
My favorite CrossFit movement would have to be Kipping because before I joined CrossFit I had no idea what it was and it was really fun to learn. It was hard at first, but I got it eventually and I’m not saying I perfect at them yet, but I have definitely improved!
6. Outside of CrossFit what do you enjoy doing?
Other hobbies besides CrossFit are the Hingham soccer as well as club, Sailing at Lincoln Maritime over the summer, Ski team/ skiing for fun in the winter, and lax (lacrosse) in the spring! I also do high school chorus! My favorite sport is soccer and hope to do it all throughout high school! Having to leave CrossFit in the spring due to conflicts with lax practice and CrossFit times is really upsetting, but as soon as the lax season ends i’ll be right back at it again!!!
