How long have you been doing CrossFit and what made you want to try it?

It’ll be 4 years in January. I can’t even believe it’s been that long! I drove by the “Coming Soon” sign outside of RCFBC before they opened & emailed back and forth with Mike L. about trying it. I was pretty nervous, because I am not that good at fitness. I went to Florida for vacation, and had to ask for a seat belt extender on the plane- super embarrassing. That was my breaking point. I signed up for the first OnRamp in January of 2013 & have been here ever since! I’m very grateful for the patience and perseverance that Mike, Sharon, Chris & all of the coaches put in to help scale everything for me & for the community for making me feel like I belong!

What is your favorite aspect of being a CrossFit coach?

Hearing people say that I helped them with a particular movement or gave them a tidbit of info they never heard before is pretty cool.

I also love seeing people achieve PR’s & doing things they never thought they could get through. It’s very cool being able to see things from the other side, knowing how hard and frustrating it can be when you can’t do something right away.

What is the most frustrating aspect of being a CrossFit coach?

Giving tips on movements that I haven’t been able to get yet, like pull ups or double unders! If I could only take my own advice……and also trying to find a working marker for the whiteboard!!!!!      

What advice would you give to someone wanting to try CrossFit for the first time?

Just walk through the door and do it. Don’t be scared by all of the barbells and super jacked people (LOL). Seems simple enough, but getting in the door is the hardest part!

What are some of your favorite activities outside the gym? 

Scoping out men everywhere I go….Just kidding, but no really…if you have any single sons, grandsons, nephews, friends, etc…..hook a sister up HAHA!! But really- I love to bake & cook and hope to open my own bakery at some point in my life!

I’ve recently taken up meditation & Yin yoga and I love it; beachin’ it in the summer; concerts and most importantly, spending time with my family and friends!

What’s your favorite holiday?

Christmas! Everyone seems so friendly and nice around then & who doesn’t love getting presents?!

Who is your favorite CrossFit athlete and why?

RICH FRONING JR…. OBVIOUSLY! We are basically best friends. He even sent me a birthday video message for my 30th…pretty cool.

And all of the strong ladies at RCFBC. You all inspire me to be a better athlete!

Burpees are always the answer….and box jumps. And running…running sucks!

What is the thing that you HATE to mobilize?

I like to mobilize, but I’m not very good at it. My least favorite mobilization move is the couch stretch & anything where I’m bound to get tangled in a band!

You’re on a deserted island and can only have three things… What would they be and why?

Tequila. Cabo Wabo. 1800. Patron. all of them….and a straw too.

A flotation device- so I can relax on the water & it also doubles as a mattress!

My phone- Have to keep up my social media status, Duh!!!!
