How long have you been doing CrossFit and what made you want to try it?
I’ve been doing CrossFit for a little over 2 years. As a high school and college athlete I have constantly been trying to find an athletic pursuit that could satisfy my competitive nature in a social environment. After running Marathons and trying every type of fitness out there I decided to try CrossFit and completely fell in love with it.
What is your favorite aspect of being a CrossFit coach?
I love that I’m able to share my passion with others and that I will get to go through the process and journey with all of the athlete’s in our box.
What is the most frustrating aspect of being a CrossFit coach?
Being a new coach, the frustrating piece is just not having the experience under my belt. I’m excited to continue to learn.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to try CrossFit for the first time?
Just.do.it. Trust the process. It might feel frustrating at times, but know that we have all been there. I can guarantee that you will never feel more proud of yourself.
What are some of your favorite activities outside the gym?
Spending time with my family. We love having dinner at the beach and surfing at sunset. Skiing, boating, SUP, and of course Yoga! The goals I have achieved in CrossFit are largely due to my learnings in yoga; presence, body awareness, breath, focus, and mobility.
What’s your favorite holiday?
St. Patrick’s Day (Duh)! I’m an Irish girl from the South Shore. Music, laughter, and beer, doesn’t get much better than that!
Who is your favorite CrossFit athlete and why?
Samantha Briggs is my favorite CrossFit athlete for sure! She has a crazy engine and awesome work ethic. She’s experienced so much adversity in her athletic career and has bounced back in many ways. Watching her win “Murph” in the 2015 games was really inspiring!
Favorite movement (s):
Overhead Squat – requires incredible core strength and focus.
Least favorite movement (s):
Pistols- they’re really freakin hard!
What is the thing that you HATE to mobilize?
Shoulders, they are old and beat up!
You’re on a deserted island and can only have three things… What would they be and why?
Obviously my husband Kyle and 2 kids Curren, and Kiki! 🙂
