Sandor/ Krisztina: Member Monday

Thank you for your time and for accepting to be our “Member Monday.” Before we get into your story, let’s start with a brief introduction… (age, town, family/kids, occupation, etc.)

I’m 28 years old, my wife Krisztina, is 26 & our handsome son Dominic, is almost 8 months old. I graduated as a biomedical engineer and I work with small animal imaging systems (CT, MRI, PET/CT). Krisztina graduated and worked as a registered nurse, but she is currently at home with Dom. We grew up in Hungary and moved to the US almost 1 year ago.

What did you do for your health and fitness before you started at RCFBC?

I used to compete in Olympic kayaking and/then Dragon boating (it’s a kind of a canoe) for 16 years. Krisztina was a professional horse rider for many years. She was very successful in her sport but unfortunately, she had to give it up because of an injury. Then she tried dragon boating and CF for more than a year. I started when I was 11 years old and that was my life for many years. I was on the water every day, training 8-10 hours a week & I can say the hard work paid off. (1xworld champ and 3x European champs). Sports were/are an integral part of our life.

Can you talk about your first exposure to CrossFit here at Reebok CrossFit Bare Cove and the emotions that followed?

As I remember on the second day after we arrived, we walked into the gym and we were really impressed by Mike Lejeune. The professionalism, warm welcome and the good sense of humor. So there was not any question, we felt the power! We live here in the Shipyard so RCFBC was the most convenient choice for us.

What is one way CrossFit has positively impacted your regular/daily life?

We have been here for a few months & I guess our life would be pretty boring without being a member of RCFBC. The whole community, the people and the coaches are absolutely amazing.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Thruster, as it is the most complicated for us.

What are your 3 LEAST favorite exercises?

Each type of Squats!

What advice would you give to a new member at RCFBC?

Do not hesitate, just enjoy

If you could sum up RCFBC in one word, what would it be?
