RCFBC Paleo Challenge I Teams and Guidelines

Bare Cove Athletes,

The teams and guidelines for our 1st paelo challenge are here!

We have 23 teams and 47 people participating in our 1st challenge!  We paired couples together and went pretty much at random from there.  You should be able to see the pairings in the picture above.

Before the weekend we will send an email out to you and your partner so you can connect with each other.

Each person should track their own score using the scoring spreadsheet.  We will post it either on our website or on Facebook.  On Saturday of each week, one person from the team should send an email to coaches@reebokcrossfitbarecove.com to report the nutrition points and activity points for the team that week.

If you stick to the following statement, you will be pretty darn close to eating paleo: “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar.”

A good guide of what is paleo and what is not can be found at the following site, but I have provided a summary below. http://paleofoodlist.com/reviews.html

What’s Out

  • Soy
  • Peanuts
  • Dairy
  • Pasta
  • Bread
  • Grains
  • Processed Sugars
  • Beans
  • Most starches (sweet potatoes are ok)
  • Vegetable and canola oil
  • Alcohol (with small exceptions)

What’s In

  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Vegetables and lots of them!
  • Fruit
  • Nuts (not peanuts)
  • Seeds
  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Pure dark chocolate (don’t go crazy here folks)
  • Black coffee

Paleo purists would allow absolutely 0 alcohol, so we highly recommend no alcohol for these 45 days.  However, if you want to enjoy spirits, stick to red wine and tequila.  Be careful of those mixers though!

We’ve allowed for 3 drinks per week for you without a points penalty.  Anything in excess of that is a -1 point!

Next Steps

We will send an email to you and your partner.  Then the two of you can connect and come up with a team name.  We will also post the score sheet so you can track daily.

Good luck!
