Hey Bare Covers!

It’s hard to believe we are just over a week away from the first ever internal competition.  For most of you it’s your first competition, so I’m sure there are a ton of butterflies.  Don’t worry, I have butterflies myself just thinking about how amazing it is going to be!  All of you are going to have so much fun, you will do things you never knew you could do, and our community will come together stronger than ever.

I know you are all wondering about the logistics so here is everything you need to know.

General Event Information

Date: June 1st, 2013

Time: 8AM – 4PMish with a not so paleo after party!

Who:

  • Athletes: RCFBC members in teams of 2 – 1 male 1 female – assigned by Mike
  • Fans: Bring friends, family, cousins, random people you meet in the street, etc.
  • Judges: CrossFit folks from other boxes that have volunteered to support us all day!

# of WODs: There are 8 scored events plus a final WOD for the top 5 teams.  2 of the WODs are scored as two separate events.  2 events are “floating” events that a team can complete at any time during the day.

Bonus: You get revenge on your favorite head coach by helping to program a WOD he will do during .

Schedule of Information

  • Wednesday 5/22 – WOD 1 was announced and sign up ended
  • Friday 5/24 – Teams will be announced and WODs 4 and 5 will be announced.
  • Monday 5/27 – If needed, teams will be updated/changed
  • Tuesday 5/28 – Team names due
  • Wednesday 5/29 – Heat schedule will be announced
  • Friday 5/31 – WODs 2 and 3 will be released
  • Saturday 6/1
    • 8AM – 4PMish WODs
    • 4PM – ?? Drink, eat, socialize, and watch your head coach get crushed!

Teams were assigned based on those that originally signed up.  Some changes may be made if some individuals are no longer able to make it, but we must know by Monday!  We can put you in contact with your teammate so you can come up with a team name by Tuesday!

WODs

Each team will perform 8 scored events – some of which will be announced before the competition.  The top 5 teams will advance to a final WOD where they will battle it out for 1st place.

Full WOD briefs will be given the day of the competition, including all movement standards.

WOD 1 – Clean Ladder

Athletes will have 45 seconds to perform 1 clean.  The clean can be squat, power, split, or muscle.  At the end of the 45 seconds, the athlete will advance to the next station to attempt a clean that is 10 pounds heavier if he/she was successful at the current station.  If the athlete did not perform a successful clean, he/she can perform bar hops as a tie breaker and is then done with the ladder.

Females may choose to start at any of the following weights: 55, 95, 135

Males may choose to start at any of the following weights: 95, 135, 175, 215, 255

The ladder ends at 285.  If an athlete clears the ladder he/she must perform as many barhops as possible in the time remaining.

10 minute AMRAP

20 Burpee Box Jump Overs (24/20)

20 KB Swings (Combined weight greater than or equal to 88lbs)

20 Goblet Squats (Must use same weight as on KB Swings)

One person works while the other completes double unders – no scaling.  Teammates can switch whenever they want.  WOD 4 score is the total number of double unders completed in 10 minutes.  WOD 5 score is the total number of reps performed (not including double unders) in the 10 minutes.

After Party

After the final WOD we will all stay around to drink some beverages, eat some food, socialize, and watch your head coach get crushed by a WOD of your choice!  Submit your ideas to Lauren and she will craft up the torture….muahahaha! lauren@reebokcrossfitbarecove.com.
